The Bunbury Banter Theatre Company creates imaginative, immersive and engaging theatre of all kinds, specialising in new writing and pieces driven by a strong use of audio. Alongside a large family of collaborators, we produce work across various mediums in addition to having a thriving educational side to the company and part-time performing arts school.? Bunbanter was born from a desire to make theatre accessible to all regardless of personal, physical, social or financial hardship and all our work has strong leanings in that direction whether it is choosing to air our work online or the scholarships we offer for within our educational work. We passionately believe in theatre for change and that the arts is vital for everyone to access, as it provides us an intrinsic link to each other, enabling new-found understanding, empathy and even escape, universal to every individual it touches.? Since setting up in 2006, in response to a call for audio drama on a local radio station, our creative work has aired worldwide and received industry acclaim including nominations for both a Channel4 Talent Award and in 2012 in the Radio Academy Awards. We have also produced several theatrical productions and past work includes commissions from The City of London and Keats House, plus an amphibious underwater play for WetSounds.? ? We also teach the next generation about drama and audio work by delivering specialist workshops, private drama lessons and ongoing classes for schools and organisations across the South East. We also run our own Saturday Theatre School and Youth Company (coming Sept 2013) offering local children and young people the opportunity to study various subjects including singing, dance, drama and media classes. Due to being a working company our education department benefits from working with theatre professionals who are not only aware of the current trends but are out there making them!? ??? Our main aim as a company is to continually produce easily accessible, high quality work with an emphasis on the strong use of audio while still maintaining rooted to our creative ethos; that the act of storytelling is central to every theatrical experience and that collaboration is essential if projects are to be driven by their narrative.
